JAN ULMER ARCHITECTS UNDERSTAND ARCHITECTURE AS A CONTEXTUAL CONSTRUCT. THE COHERENCE BETWEEN ALL PARTS OF A BUILDING IS MOST IMPORTANT TO THEM. THE FOCUS LIES ON THE SPATIAL RELATIONS THROUGH ALL THE SCALES- FROM THE EXTERIOR OF A BUILDING TO ITS INTERIORITY. THE MAIN CONCERN IS THE PHYSICAL SPACE AND ITS INTERACTION WITH USERS. THE GOAL IS TO CREATE AN ARCHITECTURE THAT SERVES AS A STAGE, OPEN AND STRONG ENOUGH TO BE INHABITED AND ACTED ON IN MULTIPLE SCENARIOS. THE OFFICE IS INTERESTED IN THE INTERSECTION BETWEEN ART AND ARCHITECTURE AND THE STRATEGIES THESE DISCIPLINES SHARE.
